Dargah of Bakhtiyar Kaki

In the Mehrauli area is the dargah (shrine) of the Sufi saint, Khwaja Qutbuddin Bakhtiyar Kaki. Within the dargah complex are several other graves and adjacent to them in a marble enclosure are the graves of the Mughal emperors, Akbar, Bahadurshah Zafar and Shah Alam. One can see through the jaalis (meshes) the grave of Khwaja Sahib. Only men are allowed to enter it and see the garish marble and mirror studded domed pavilion built over the simple grave just over 50 years ago. On the marble jaalis surrounding the grave are many coloured threads by pilgrims to mark a wish that they may have made. If their wish is fulfilled, then they return to the grave and untie the thread. Next to the dargah's Ajmere gate is Moti Masjid, a small mosque built for private prayer by Bahadur Shah Zafar.
